21 Bridges

Chadwick Boseman temporarily sheds his “Black Panther” persona to play a tough well respected Manhattan, NY Detective by the name of Andre Davis.

Detective Davis is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers. While on the hunt it appears that there may be a conspiracy in the neighborhood precinct that may be aiding the 2 killers as they try to make their escape, but Detective Davis uses extreme measures by having all 21 Bridges that lead out of the city closed down. The story unfolds from there…

While this appears to potentially be a “Been there done that” type of movie there are a few new spins and twists that are just enough to set “21 Bridges” apart from the pack. There is plenty of intrigue, action and suspense.
The paid critics were Luke-warm about “21 Bridges”, I happen to think it’s pretty good.

This is a 3 1/2 Star Movie!!

American Assassin

“American Assassin” follows a CIA Black Ops recruit, Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien) who deals with losing his fiancée in a random attack at a beach resort to being under the guidance of a Cold-War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton).
The CIA assigns Mitch, Stan and a group of operatives to investigate random attacks on Military and Civilian communities around the world. These mini-missions lead the team to a bigger mission involving a lethal Turkish agent (Shiva Negar). Together they attempt to stop a mysterious operative known as “Ghost”. The story unfolds from there…

“American Assassin” would be awesome if it did not have so many agendas that go uncompleted. The movie starts off great, but goes off track within the first 35 minutes and never recovers. This movie is missing its foundation. There is lots of action, suspense and intrigue. The cinematography and camera angles are very good.

I had high expectations due to the fact that the cast is strong, but in the end the movie is just ok.

“American Assassin” will be a great Cable, DVD or Blue-Ray viewing.

This is a 2 ½ Star Movie!

Lone Survivor

“LONE SURVIVOR”, is a tale of true Brotherhood, Sacrifice, Courage and Heroism. Based on a true story, four Navy SEALS go out on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level Taliban operative. The mission goes awry and the four SEALS find themselves ambushed and fighting for their lives.

The movie is very well executed, plenty of action, intense violence and very bloody. I found myself hiding my eyes sometimes…The realism of the situation is staggering. This is probably one of the bloodiest military movies I have ever seen!!

LONE SURVIVOR gives you a really good look at what our troops have been dealing with and are continuing to deal with today. No politics are implied in this movie, just the day to day operations that our military deals with. My heart goes out to the men and women who fight for our country and our freedom.

If you like military movies and can stand the bloodiness; LONE SURVIVOR is your movie.

Caution, LONE SURVIVOR is not suited for children under 17.
