It’s 1987 and Bumblebee was sent to Earth to protect it, but he is on the run from the Decepticons. He finds refuge in an old junkyard as a VW Beetle. Along comes Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) who works part time in the junkyard. Charlie barters with the owner to purchase the VW Beetle thinking she is getting her own prized vehicle, but soon finds out she has acquired so much more. The story unfolds from there…
“Bumblebee” is fun and entertaining. The cinematography and action are on point. This story of a lone transformer comes across as heartwarming and the story was executed very well.
This is a 4 Star Movie!!
Riley (Jennifer Garner) leads what seems to be a normal life. She has a young daughter and a husband who loves her. Riley’s husband appears to be on the edge of doing something that is on the wrong side of the law. At the last minute he backs out.
The family decide to celebrate their young daughter’s birthday at the amusement park. After riding a few rides, they get ice cream. Riley goes back to get a few napkins, Father and daughter head toward the car. A dark sedan cruises by and opens fire on the Father and daughter, Riley runs to them and also gets shot. The story unfolds from there…
“Peppermint” is filled with intrigue, drama and suspense. There are a few holes and the back story on the husband is missing, but the move is very entertaining and you are riveted to your seat. I personally love seeing Jennifer Garner in action/drama roles. She appeared in “Peppermint” as I remember her in the ABC hit “Alias”.
I am not sure why the “Paid Critics” were so hard on “Peppermint”. It’s not as dismal as they make it seem. It is Vigilante at its finest!!
If you enjoy “Action/Drama/Suspense, “Peppermint” is worth a look.
This is a 3 ½ Star Movie!!
“Going in Style” is Hilarious!!
Just imagine you are in your “Golden Years”. You have retired after working 30, 40 years at the same company. You have a pension that you expected to last as long as you do. The company you worked so hard for is having problems and has been purchased. The new company has decided to freeze all pensions from the purchased company. This leaves all of the current retirees without any money.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures. You get together with your retired pals and decide to rob a bank. There is planning, getting into shape and learning to shoot a gun among other tasks that you need to undertake, but first you need some help from someone with a criminal mind. The story unfolds from there…
The paid critics are very Luke-warm about “Going in Style”. What could possibly be Luke-warm about a movie with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin as its stars?
I thought it was funny, entertaining and lighthearted while potentially ringing in some truth. In America today, pensions disappearing does happen. It’s funny to see 70+ year old’s putting together a plan and robbing a bank.
“Going in Style” is an entertaining movie and worth a look.
This is a 3 ½ Star Movie!
“A Dog’s Purpose” is about a Golden Retriever named “Bailey” who goes through several reincarnations. Through some of these reincarnations dog abuse is realized before the reincarnated “Bailey” lands where he/she is supposed to be.
Each time “Bailey” is reincarnated he/she learns a new purpose and life lesson. The story unfolds from there…
While we all know that animal cruelty does happen, I don’t like seeing it on the big screen. That made parts of the movie intolerable. At times the movie was very entertaining and other times it was boring. There was some comedy relief, but that too was brief. I had hoped for a better more fun movie than what I actually saw.
I believe small children might enjoy “A Dog’s Purpose”, but dog loving adults may not.
This is a 2 ½ Star Movie!
