Wonder Woman 1984 in IMAX

Wonder Woman 1984 in IMAX

Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman quietly lives among mortals in the vibrant 1980’s. Working as a curator of ancient artifacts Diana maintains a low profile and only appears as Wonder Woman when someone needs help.

Soon though Wonder Woman will need to gather all of her strength, wisdom and courage as one of the artifacts is stolen and Wonder Woman finds herself facing off with The Cheetah a villainess who possesses super human strength and Maxwell Lord. The story unfolds from there…

This installment is nowhere near as serious as the first installment. In fact, I found this installment a bit goofy. The Plot is pretty much non-existent. There is no continuation between this installment and the first. You are given a reminder of Diana Prince’s origins, but that is it.

Some parts of the movie are all over the place and just plain do not make sense. The Cinematography and special effects are on point and Wonder Woman is very cool and there is tons of action, but the movie is a bit of a disappointment. If you saw and liked the first installment, you will be expecting more of the same and that is not the case with “Wonder Woman 1984”

The movie is streaming on HBO MAX. If you have HBO MAX see it for free!!

This is a 3 Star Movie!!

Wonder Woman in 3D

Wow!! What a fresh first installment! “Wonder Woman” was awesome!

The story starts off perfectly, an Amazon Princess, Diana (Gal Gadot) is living an idyllic life. As a young girl she observes her Mother and other Woman Warriors as they train constantly to be prepared for war. Diana wants to be just like them, so she too is allowed to train. The everyday peacefulness they enjoy on their isolated island is interrupted when a pilot (Chris Pine) crash lands in the surrounding sea. By this time Diana is a trained warrior so she dives into the sea to save the pilot.
There is an army chasing the pilot. They make their way to the island and a small war breaks out. The story unfolds from there…

Great special effects, awesome cinematography, lots of action and a great story to start this franchise. Gal Gadot is perfect as “Wonder Woman”. The actors all give strong performances. The story has heart, humor and intrigue.

“Wonder Woman” will be another box office hit for DC. I am excited to see what the next installment will bring.

This is a 4 ½ Star Movie!

Hell or High Water

This is another edition of “Thursday Night at the Movies with The Movie Warrior”.

“Hell or High Water” is a Well-Executed Western about two brothers who are trying to save the family farm/ranch after their Mother dies. The farm has a reverse mortgage and other debt on it. The brothers rob several small town Savings & Loans in rural Texas.
A soon-to-be retired Texas Ranger, Marcus (Jeff Bridges) and his partner are called in on the case. With years of experience between them, they figure out which town and bank might be hit next and they camp out in the area. The story unfolds from there…

“Hell or High Water” is very good! The movie is well paced and keeps you entertained.
It’s a modern day cops and robbers but with a Western-Theme. The out-come is not necessarily predictable.

“Hell or High Water” is open in “Limited-Release”.

If you like Westerns, “Hell or High Water” should not be missed.

This is a 4 ½ Star Movie!

Star Trek Beyond: The IMAX 3D Experience

This is another Edition of “Thursday Night at the Movies with The Movie Warrior”

The Star Ship Enterprise is back!

Captain Kirk and his crew go out on what they believe is a rescue mission. They take in a supposed survivor from a wrecked ship. When the Enterprise heads to the planet where they believe they will be rescuing people, instead as they approach this unknown planet, the Enterprise is severely attacked.

Captain Kirk and his crew are forced to abandon ship. The Enterprise crash lands and the crew is scattered round this strange planet. Some of the crew are captured, others wonder looking for the others. The story unfolds from there…

“Star Trek Beyond” is full of suspense and intrigue. There is lots of Sci-Fi action and mayhem. The movie is visually entertaining and will satisfy any Star Trek fan. Although this is not your Father’s Star Trek, the Enterprise crew goes “Old School” to fight this unknown enemy. There is some cool throw-back special effects that are used from the old Star Trek TV Shows.

The original Dr Spock (Leonard Nimoy) was given a great send off, since he passed away last year. This movie closes that door to some extent.

Do you want to just see the movie? Or do you want to feel like you are riding on the Star Ship Enterprise? “Star Trek Beyond” is a must see in IMAX. The 3D aspects were not that great.

“Star Trek Beyond” is a “Bona-Fide” Summer Blockbuster that did not advertise very much.

This is 4 ½ Star Movie!

Into The Woods

“Into The Woods” is quite delightful and entertaining, although toward the end its dark roots that have hovered just below the surface throughout rise up.

“Into The Woods” is a modern play on several Grimm Fairy Tales, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel”, “Cinderella” and “Little Red Riding Hood”. These Tales are all intertwined and tied nicely together. The stories explore the consequences of the characters wishes, quests and actions.

The movie is a nice mix of Broadway Musical and Big Screen Motion Picture. Meryl Streep is Awesome!!

“Into The Woods” is an appropriate Holiday movie.

This is a 3 1/2 Star Movie!

Horrible Bosses 2

“Horrible Bosses 2” is nowhere near as funny or comical as it’s 2011 predecessor.

In this installment, Nick (Bateman), Dale (Day) and Kurt (Sudeikis) attempt to go in business together making a shower head that produces soap along with the water as you shower. They find what they believe is a backer for their business, but these guys have no business savvy. They hire people and get an assembly line going and make 4300 shower heads. When they go to meet their presumed backer he balks. The story unfolds from there…

“Horrible Bosses 2” is only slightly funny and only mildly entertaining. It’s more stupid than funny. Black Friday shopping would provide more entertainment and be more stimulating.

Jamie Foxx makes an appearance and while he is in the scenes everything is hysterical after that nothing.

I would suggest waiting for “Horrible Bosses 2” on DVD or Blue-Ray.

This is a 1 1/2 Star Movie.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

It’s always fun to see a Tom Clancey character brought alive on the big screen. “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” would be brilliant if the storyline weren’t so weak and the plot so “Been there before…”

To his friends and family, Jack Ryan (Chris Pine) is just another executive working to make a living. Little do they know Jack has been working for the CIA for years. He was originally brought in to handle Global data, but Jack soon uncovers a carefully planned scheme to crash the Global US Economy and create mass chaos.
When Jack flies to Russia to put a stop to the scheme, he soon finds himself caught between a Russian Leader, his clueless fiancée, and his secret handler. The story unfolds from there…

“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” is fast paced, non-stop action, a bit of intrigue and some nice cinematography. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. The story, the plot and the reasoning are all very weak. There are quite a few holes in the story at the beginning, so you are forced to draw your own conclusions.

The movie appears to end when things just seem to be heating up. If the movie had been made with a bit longer running time, the extra time would have served it well.

Star Trek Into Darkness:An IMAX 3D Experience

“Run” do not walk to see “Star Trek Into Darkness”. Yes, it’s very good.

Captain Kirk (Pine) and the Starship Enterprise crew have been summoned back home and find that an unstoppable force within its own organization has destroyed an entire Starfleet. This leaves planet earth venerable to attacks. Captain Kirk has his own score to settle as he leads his crew and the Starship Enterprise on a mission to a war-torn planet to capture and destroy a one-man weapon of mass destruction. The story unfolds from there…

“Star Trek Into Darkness” is a must see in IMAX 3D.

The movie its self is very entertaining and filled with intrigue.
You will be taken on a wild ride. The cinematography is brilliant.
The action is intense and the special effects are scintillating.
The crystal-clear images along with IMAX and the digital sound create an exceptional environment that will carry you right along with the Starship Enterprise.
