Little Women

“Little Women” draws from the classic novel and also the writings of Louisa May Alcott. The movie unfolds as Louisa’s alter ego Jo March and goes back and forth on her fictional life.

The Timeless story of the four March Sisters takes center stage showing how each one is determined to live her life on her terms. Love, Loss, Tragedy, Death and Triumph each play a role in this movie.

“Little Women” is very entertaining, heart-warming, comical and a bit sad. This is definitely a great movie to see during this Holiday time. The cast is great. The cinematography and costumes are awesome!!

I highly recommend “Little Women” as a Holiday Treat.

This is a 5 Star Movie!!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Are you old enough to remember Mister Roger’s Neighborhood?

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is based on the TV show Mister Roger’s Neighborhood. The movie illustrates the real-life friendship of Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.

Tom Junod is a jaded journalist who is assigned to profile Fred Rogers. As Tom goes about writing the story he finds out that spending time with Fred Rogers introduces many life lessons such as empathy, kindness and decency and that Fred Rogers is America’s most beloved neighbor.

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is very entertaining, eye-opening and thought-provoking. The movie is loaded with “Life Lessons” that no matter your age or lot in life everyone can learn something from Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.

This is a 5 Star Movie!!

Live by Night

“Live by Night” is a slow burning gangster movie that has no sizzle. The movie is loosely based on Dennis Lehane’s Crime Novel about a prodigal son of a prominent police chief and his gradual descent into the crime world.

The cinematography is very good, there was lots of action and some of the camera angles were awesome, but the movie just doesn’t grab you. There is a HUGH cast, but even they couldn’t make an already hollow story whole. The story appears to have started in the middle instead of at the beginning.

Ben Affleck directs and stars in the movie. This could be part of the problem. Ben Affleck is brilliant behind the camera, but not in front of the camera.

Several people got up and left the theater long before the movie was over, that’s how boring the movie was.

The previews and trailers for “Live by Night” looked really good. Too bad the actual movie did not live up to its billing.

This is a 2 Star Movie!

August: Osage County

Meryl Streep is “Brilliant” in “August:Osage County”

“August: Osage County” is about family dysfunction in the worst way. The strong willed woman of the Weston family have many issues. Family tragedy brings them together in the mid-west home that they grew up in, but after being together for a short time. Dark secrets come out that further divide them as a family. The story unfolds from there…
The movie is dark, very touching and at times very hilarious. It will definitely hold your attention. The cast is great together.

Meryl Streep deserves the Golden Globe nomination that she received for this movie.

Tracy Lett’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name debuted on Broadway in December 2007.
