Bad Boys: Ride or Die in AMC Dolby

Bad Boys: Ride or Die in AMC Dolby

I was surprised to learn a few months ago that there was going to be another Bad Boys installment.

The World-Famous Bad Boys, Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett are back with their iconic mix of crime fighting, edge of your seat action and comedy relief only this time there is a twist, stakes are higher and the Bad Boys find themselves on the run. The story unfolds from there…

Surprisingly there is still life in this franchise. What they do great is tie the installments together. There is a continuation from the last installment. There are lots of crazy stunts, edge of your seat action and even some crazy thrills. There is a plot and a story.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still work well together. There are a couple of slow spots and some cheesiness in the movie and that’s what keeps it from being a 4- or 5-star movie, but it is extremely entertaining. The execution is good, but NOT nearly as well done as the previous installment, the Jan 2020 “Bad Boys for Life”.

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die is definitely a good summer entertaining movie.

This is a 3 ½ Star Movie!!

Bad Boys for Life in AMC Dolby

I was not writing movie reviews back in 1995 when the first “Bad Boys” hit the big screen. In fact I can’t remember if I liked the first installment or not. I can however confidently state that I do in fact like “Bad Boys for Life”.

It’s been twenty five years since Mike Lowery (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) first became partners. Fast forward to 2020, Mike and Marcus get together for one last ride…

This installment of the Bad Boy franchise is really good. The movie is fun to watch from start to finish. There is a back story that is carefully laid out, but there is a hole in the plot that does not quite get filled. However that does not take away from the entertainment factor of the movie. There is plenty of action, crazy car and motorcycle chases, but brace yourself…Things do get bloody. The cinematography is on point. The comic relief is alive and well.

I recommend “Bad Boys for Life” for some fun entertainment during this MLK Day Holiday weekend.

Second Act

“Second Act” is “Working Girl” meets “Maid in Manhattan”. Maya (Jennifer Lopez) works in a Mass Merchandise type of store. She has big marketing ideas that she shares with the stores Executive. The Executives love Maya’s ideas, but because Maya does not have a college education she is not taken seriously.
Unbeknownst to Maya a professional profile is created for her that is befitting of her marketing ideas. A big Manhattan Marketing firm comes calling. The story unfolds from there…

“Second Act” is entertaining and light-hearted. The story is a bit sketchy, disjointed and underdeveloped. There are several BIG surprises that occur and you have to wonder why the stage was not set appropriately. This is what keeps “Second Act” from being a 4 or 5 Star movie. Jennifer Lopez works with what she was given. I loved the business wardrobe she wore in the movie. Additionally the sound track is very good.

Alas…”Second Act” is best viewed on Cable.
