The Flash in AMC Dolby

The Flash in AMC Dolby

“The Flash” starts off with Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. The story unfolds from there…

The first 80 minutes of the movie are slow and go. The real action doesn’t start until the movie is half over. The Dolby effects are awesome. The cinematography is very good. There was a ton of CGI used, sometimes it was a bit over kill. The story is jagged and does not have a real flow. There are too many lull spots in the first 80 minutes, but the action that ensues makes it worth the ticket.

I was surprised to see Michael Keaton as Batman. The current Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) makes an appearance, but why not bring back Linda Carter as Wonder Woman since Michael Keaton was brought back. I feel this is a casting mix match as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman represents now and the future, where Linda Carter’s Wonder Woman represents the past just like Michael Keaton’s Batman.

This installment is a bit of Justice League, so you do get the opportunity to see a few Super Heroes in Action.

This is DC Comics not Marvel Universe. You decide for yourself.

Knives Out

“Knives Out” is a fresh “Who Done it”, Think “Murder on the Orient Express” in a quiet modern upscale Estate with many twists and turns.

Everything gets chaotic when renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead after his 85th Birthday at his estate. Everyone is a suspect. Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is on the case. Detective Blanc and his team find themselves digging through a web of decent and red herring to get at the truth. No stone will be left unturned. The story unfolds from there…

“Knives Out” is very entertaining, has some comic relief and many twists and turns. The movie is fresh. The cast at times is hilarious. If you like Agatha Christie type mysteries, you should definitely check out “Knives Out”.

This is a 5 Star Movie!!

12 Strong

Actors Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) is Captain Mitch Nelson and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road” and “Nocturnal Animals”) is Hal Spencer lead the charge of a group of soldiers who’s acts of heroism highlight what “12 Strong” is about.

Based on the best-selling book Horse Soldiers, “12 Strong” is a powerful war drama that highlights the true events that unfold in the aftermath of 9/11.

Awesome story of sacrifice and bravery. “12 Strong” tells a sharp, heroic story. These men just go and get it done. “12 Strong” is one of the better war movies that has opened in recent years. “12 Strong” is worth a look.

Nocturnal Animals

I fully understand why “Nocturnal Animals” opened in limited release a couple of weeks ago. This movie is very graphic in nature. It’s also very well acted.

From the opening credits through the first 35 minutes of the movie was very disturbing in nature. I seriously considered leaving…but there was a turning point which captured my attention, the movie picked up steam and became very intriguing.

“Nocturnal Animals” is a haunting romantic thriller filled with shocking and graphic nudity. It’s not rated X, but probably should be. The nudity is not sexual in nature, it’s just raw.

The movie illustrates revenge, deceit, redemption and the thin lines between love and hate. A divorced couple (Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams) head down a path of rediscovering one another, but also learning some dark truths about each other.

If you need something to compare “Nocturnal Animals” to, think of the 2014 hit “Gone Girl”.

See “Nocturnal Animals” if you dare!

Man of Steel: An IMAX 3D Experience

Remember “Batman Begins”? “Man of Steel” is Christopher Nolan’s first installment of the untold story of Superman. I say untold because this movie starts at the very beginning just as Superman is about to be born.
The planet Krypton is about to be destroyed. Superman’s biological parents want to save him from a certain fate, so they ship the infant off to earth. Fast-forward about 20 years…now a grown-up Superman must confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when people from Krypton come to earth to get him back. The story unfolds from there…
“Man of Steel” does a nice job of giving snippets of Superman growing up in rural Mid-West America. The cinematography and special effects are really good. The action at times is really intense. The story does come together nicely, although there are times that it jumps around too much and becomes a bit mundane.
You definitely want to see this in IMAX, although 3D is not required. The 3D aspects are pretty good, but not worth the extra dollars.
As I stated earlier this is a Christopher Nolan production. We can expect several more installments just like he did Batman.
If you are a Superman fan, by all means do go see “Man of Steel”.
