“Wicked” is the long running highly successful Broadway Musical that has come to the Big Screen. 

“Wicked” is about the Witches of Oz before the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy and Toto. 

The story is told in grand fashion. The main characters are complex frenemies, but Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo do such a fantastic job of lighting up the big screen. You will find yourself wanting to be in Oz.

The props and costumes are to ‘Die For”. The execution of the movie is brilliant. There are no lapses or gaps. It’s just non-stop music, movement, song and story.  

There are some extremely elaborate sets. Some of the views are breath-taking. The IMAX aspects are on point. You will feel like you are in Oz.

This is just Part 1. The movie does well to remind us that this is a continuing saga. How will it all end? Have to wait for the next installment to find out. Cynthia Erivo’s performance will probably earn her an Oscar nomination.

“Wicked” is worth a look.

Jurassic World Dominion in AMC Dolby

This installment is supposed to be the EPIC conclusion where two generations unite for the first time. Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill meet up with Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt. Together they battle a bold new world filled with prehistoric Dinosaurs as well as Scientific lab experimental Dinosaurs that have been bred in captivity. These Dinosaurs live and hunt right alongside humans all over the world.

Things get out of control when a Scientist makes a mistake and uses the wrong DNA formula and a flying gigantic looking Grass Hopper / Beetle is born and they create havoc in Texas as well as other places. In the meantime, there are several other stories that unfold and ultimately intersect.

This is 2 hours and 27 minutes of chaos. There is no plot, but there is a very tiny back story that appears half way through the movie. While the past comes together with the present, it’s not clear what the group is trying to accomplish. There is great acting, but that is not enough to save this installment. The cinematography is very good. There is some crazy cool action, but alas I found myself a bit bored. Things heated up toward the end but, by that point I just wanted it to be over.

It’s been four years since the last Jurassic installment, I expected better.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 3D

More Dinosaurs… It’s been over three years since the last installment “Jurassic World”. The town, village and area were destroyed by the Dinosaurs that were in containment there during that time.

Fast forward to today the land is mostly a jungle where the Dinosaurs that survived feed on themselves. Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) are approached to mount a rescue to save the remaining Dinosaurs from extinction. Owen wants to find “Blue” his lead Raptor who has been missing since the fallout started in “Jurassic World”. A team is assembled and they all head to the island, but a volcano erupts and causes a stampede. The story unfolds from there…

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom lacks punch and dynamite. The story is just ho-hum. There are a few laughs and you will find yourself rooting for the Dinosaurs at times. The bad guys are just plain boring. There are a few twists and turns, but those are not enough to make the movie edge of your seat entertainment.

A bit more thought should have been given to this installment. This installment is by far the worst one. That in its self is very disappointing.

Thor: Ragnarok in Real 3D

This is a Special Edition of Thursday Night at the Movies with the Movie Warrior

This 3rd installment finds Thor imprisoned on the other side of the Universe without his powerful Hammer. Thor finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok the destruction of his homeland and the end of Asgardian Civilization. Thor must battle a new powerful villain, the ruthless Hela. Hela will stop at nothing to take over and destroy Asgard. If that’s not enough, Thor also must survive a Gladiator contest against the mighty Hulk…The story unfolds from there…

Wow!! Awesome cinematography, special effects, action, suspense and intrigue. They got it right on this 3rd installment. It’s a wild ride in your theater seat. Colorful scenes give way to spectacular camera angles.

This is a star-studded cast with appearances from The Hulk and Dr Strange.

They definitely did not play it safe with this installment, it’s as if all guns came out blazing. Marvel Universe did hit the jackpot.

If you are a fan of the Marvel Comic Universe, this installment of Thor is definitely worth a look.

Independence Day: Resurgence: The IMAX 3D Experience

Have you ever gone to the movies and while you were waiting for the movie to start, you have second thoughts…? That was my dilemma today. If I could have gotten my money back I would have left the theater. I just had my doubts about seeing this sequel.

It’s 20 years since “Independence Day” and we have taken up residence on the Moon. We have a fully operational Space Station with astronauts and scientists manning the station. Flights to the moon are routine. The current president of the United States is a Woman. A HUGH celebration is in effect honoring the fallen of 20 years ago.

On the Moon, we mistaken a friendly arrival from another planet who comes to warn Earth that an Intergalactic war is about to take place and Earth is in trouble. We fire upon the friendly ship destroying everything but its messenger. Once we find out what’s about to happen it’s too late. The Alien Ship with the “Queen” as already entered Earth’s air space. The story unfolds from there…

Bottom line…”Independence Day: Resurgence” attempts to match the same “End-Of-The-World” urgency that its predecessor did. It falls far short of even coming close.

While the movie is visually appealing and the CGI and Cinematography are stunning, the rest of the movie, story and plot are missing.
