Weapons

Weapons

This is a special edition of Thursday Night at the Movies with The Movie Warrior!!

It’s been 8 or 9 years since I have gone to the movies on a Thursday night.

“Weapons” was not on my original “Watch List”, but when a couple of co-workers mentioned it and asked why I had not reviewed it, I had to look it up and then once I saw a trailer, I decided I would give it a look. I don’t generally do Horror Movies anymore because I just don’t have the stomach for them.

“Weapons” is not your ordinary Horror Flick…

Strange thing… When all but one child from the same class mysteriously disappears on the same night, it causes all kinds of chaos, finger pointing, accusations and questions as to who or what is behind this disappearance. A Community is torn. The story unfolds from there…

The story is executed brilliantly! I was shocked! Yes, it’s a Horror movie, a bit scary and bloody at times, but not your garden variety type of Horror. There were tons of edge of your seat suspense and intrigue right up to the end. There were a lot of big elements in the movie. It gives new meaning to the Horror Genre. “Weapons” is definitely worth seeing.

This is a 4 Star Movie!!

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in AMC Dolby

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in AMC Dolby

Finally, Dr. Strange is back!! I really enjoyed the first installment and was glad to see that a 2nd installment has arrived.

This installment really pushes the boundaries of Dr. Strange’s abilities. The Multiverse is unlocked and the journey with Dr. Strange is long and intense. This journey is mind bending, dangerous and forces Dr. Strange to confront a new adversary.

Dr. Strange even gets the help of mystical allies old and new from far and wide. Is it enough? You will have to see the movie to find out.

The movie is intense, crazy, mad, at times scary and a bit insane, but… also, fantastic to look at. The Visuals are on point. The story its self has holes, but with the great acting, special effects and fantastic cinematography, I can forgive the lack luster story and plot.

If you are a fan of Marvel Universe and Dr. Strange, this installment should not be missed.

This is a 4 Star Movie!!

Gemini Man in 3D

I was so excited when I first learned of “Gemini Man”. The movie trailers made the movie seem interesting and intriguing. When I saw the Rotten Tomatoes score of 26, my heart fell. I told myself I was going to keep an open mind.

Henry Brogan (Will Smith) just completed what he felt was his last assassin job for the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency). He planned to retire and enjoy time on his boat. The DIA had other ideas. They did not want to lose their elite assassin, so they decided to take action. The story unfolds from there…

The visuals for “Gemini Man” are impressive. There is a ton of action, suspense and intrigue. Will Smith turns in a strong performance. The problem with “Gemini Man” is the lack of foundation and a back story to tie all of the elements and other people you see into the movie.

“Gemini Man” is not a 5 or 4 star movie. I think it’s definitely worth a higher score than 26.

If you like Will Smith and suspenseful movies, you should check out “Gemini Man”.
